大学院生の頃に企画してからこうして載せるまでかれこれ約8年かかりました．大変．
サクラダファミリア化する前に行き場が決まってよかったです．

8年といっても，最初の数年のうちにほとんど内容は固まり，残り数年はひたすら頑健性のチェックをやっていました．
得るものも多かったですけど，消耗の多い長旅だったように感じます．


Main points:

• We try to sophisticate an urban accounting method in terms of (1) incorporating sectoral variation, (2) external validity (by using Japanese data), (3) internal validity (by correcting computational errors), and (4) understanding what causes the post-war population movement in Japan.
• We find that `wedge' in local labor markets plays a major role in accounting for the spatial variation in regional population in Japan.
• Labor wedge can be interpreted in several ways. Instead of interpreting what that represents, we stress which channel explains obs variation.
• Changes in manufacturing sector seem important.
• Regional variation in labor market distortion leads to concentration, rather than dispersion, of population.
• It has an implication for policy making for designing urban system.
